Learn to create your own fully customized hand-bound books with local artist Richenda Brim of Clementine Press. This class is perfect for total beginners, or those who took Richenda's Bookbinding 101 class last year. In this class, you will learn to make a casebound hardcover book. You'll learn how to work with adhesives, sew on linen tapes, and make a cloth and paper cover. The classes will cover the structure and design elements of a handbound book. Students will take home one model, one complete bound book, notes, and tools to continue bookbinding at home. All papers/bookmaking materials and a cheat sheet are included. If you took Bookbinding 101 please bring your bone folder and paper awl. (If you need to purchase these tools, please bring an extra $5 to class.) Two-session class starts Friday, May 14 from 7-10pm and finishes Saturday morning from 11am-2pm.
